Musings on my first attempts at becoming a trader of all things vintage
I've done it! After months of indecision I have finally booked my first ever vintage fair. I will be at The Decorative Home & Salvage Show on May 16th to 18th at the lovely Ripley Castle, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
I've been to the Show as a buyer for the last 2 years and it is right up my street. Run by Arthur Swallow Fairs, it is full of architectural salvage, vintage furniture, retro pieces, kitchenalia, antiques and unusual quirky items.
Now all I've got to do is choose my stock, price and label, print leaflets, organise insurance, plan my layout .........
I get very excited about my Easter display. As soon as we break up from school I find the decorations, search the garden for a suitable branch and buy another decoration to add to the display.
Maybe it stems from my previous life as a primary school teacher and memories of setting up the nature table, or maybe its just a good excuse to arrange random objects and take photographs.
Obviously I add chocolate to the display on Easter weekend and not before. Too tempting every time I walk past!
